Welcome to Kevin vs. The Yard

I was born in 1990 and raised in Bavaria, Germany. My life took an interesting turn (and what a journey it has been!) when I moved overseas in late 2014.


Married for over 10 years and I currently live with my wife Jackie, my son and daughter Viktor and Sunna close to Lake Erie bordering both Ohio and Pennsylvania.


We have chickens, a shepherd dog named bear, and a yard that is unruly on a daily basis. 


I’m just your average guy living on 10 acres of woods and trying to figure out how to take care of it—one project (and mistake) at a time. I wasn’t raised with this kind of know-how, but I’m learning as I go, tackling everything from chopping wood and clearing trails, trimming bushes and shrubs, fixing our lawn mower (again) and keeping the yard under control.

Besides trying to take care of our 10 acres I am very interested in the outdoors and I enjoy reading about prehistory and cultures who lived very closely with nature.

This blog is where I’ll share my wins, my fails, and the tools that actually help get the job done. Whether you’re as clueless as I was starting out, or just want to see someone else take on nature’s challenges, you’re in the right place.
